Gap Year on Kibbutz Harduf by ten2
We bring together young Jewish adults from all over the world, in a program that combines ethical sustainable volunteer work with local communities & service-learning in the fields of international development, culture, identity, & Jewish activism.
Our center in Israel is located in the beautiful forest of Kibbutz Harduf in the Galilee and is part of the Masa Israel Journey programs. Participants, ages 18 to 28, come from around the world and live together in a diverse and vibrant community known as a Komuna. This includes international volunteers as well as Israeli Shinshinim (pre-army service volunteers) and Sherut Leumi (national service participants), both Jewish and Arab. Together, they volunteer with the local Arab community, live an eco-conscious and cooperative lifestyle, travel throughout Israel, and engage in meaningful learning.
Having Israeli peers in the program offers a unique opportunity for participants to build deep connections, work side by side with Israelis their age, and experience Israel through their eyes.

Volunteer Testimonial
"Living on a kibbutz was very good, it felt special, peaceful & communal. I enjoyed the work in Beit Elisha, a special needs centers for adults and the school in particular. I learnt how to communicate beyond language barriers and support people better. I believe this experience has giving me more trust in my own capability in a
work environment." - Julia 19, Germany

"I wanted to connect more with my Jewish identity. I LOVED living in a desert, I liked how different it wasfrom my environment in Florida. Mitzpe is very interesting and diverse. I love the hippie vibes here. I enjoyed gardening the most and there is lots of things I will take back from my experience!" - Katherine 27, Florida

"The program was a good fit for me; I had a much needed break from school and manyenjoyable volunteering experiences. The free weekend in Eilat was awesome I camped on the beach in Eilat and visited the underwater observatory there. The educational curriculum was very informative. I improved my Hebrew and Arabic. The Jewish classes were thought-provoking!" - Yehuda, 18, Ohio
